The truth is, you need more than just what Google Analytics tells you to see what’s really happening in between the recorded pages and the clicks.
One of the first things I put on the most-important-tasks, when a team brings me onboard, is to install a behavioural analytics tool like Hotjar.
This way we can see both where people are going (Google Analytics) and also what they’re doing on the pages (Hotjar).
With info from both tools, we can then do some serious damage
… and it becomes mostly a science not an art 😉
